Gilbert Martinez went to be with Lord on August 25, 2021. He was born to Guadalupe and Micaela Martinez on October 18, 1965. Gilbert is preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Martinez, and his brother, Michael Martinez. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lisa Ramirez; daughters, Roxanne Martinez (Victor), and Jenny Nicole Castoreno (Jack); sons, Art Ramirez (Annette), Gilbert Martinez Jr., and Gabriel Martinez; grandchildren, McKayla Lopez, and Jude Palmer; five sisters and his brother; numerous nieces and nephews. Gilbert took great pride in various things: his family, being a provider, hard work, being a business owner, and his children and grandchildren. He was extremely generous. He strived to make life easier for those he was surrounded by, especially his extended family and friends. At every encounter he would always ask, “what can I help you with? Everything alright? Are you sure you’re okay? Do the kids need anything? Okay, if you need anything let me know.” He never gave up on people, even when people gave up on themselves. Gilbert enjoyed traveling with his family, and anyone who was willing to join them on their trips. Everyone was always invited. He enjoyed gambling and playing cards, whether at a casino or at home. He enjoyed a toast to life with the finest tequila when celebrating with family and friends. As a lover of laughter and music Gilbert was often the life of the party. His laugh is unforgettable. Always recognizable. He enjoyed telling jokes and impersonating others to get a laugh out of everyone. He wasn’t’ shy about singing. He sang the songs that he loved, especially songs that his father, Jet Martinez, had recorded. His voice was a friendly reminder that everything was going to be alright. As we carry his loving memory in our hearts forever, Gilbert, our dad, grandpa, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, will be sorely missed. Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021, from 5:00pm-8:00pm, with a service at 6:00pm at Mission Park Funeral South (Main Chapel). Funeral service will be held Monday, September 13, 2021, at 11:00am followed by the burial at San Jose Burial Park. Mission Park Funeral South - 1700 SE Military Dr. San Jose Burial Park – 8235 Mission Rd. *Masks are required and must be properly worn at all times.
