Gladys Lucille Williams was born on November 26, 1921, in San Antonio, Texas, and went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2013. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and she will be greatly missed and remembered. Gladys graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1939. She also attended Trinity University. In the summer of 1942, she met Luther, a member of the Army Air Corps, at the USO in San Antonio, and they married on December 5th that same year. She was a Lifetime Member of the PTA at Sam Houston High School and was a member of the Sam Houston H.S. Band Parent Association. She was also a member of the Jefferson Davis Junior School PTA, the St. Paul's Lutheran School PTL, and the St. Benedict's Catholic School PTO. She was a charter auxiliary member and a life auxiliary member of the Alamo City Basha chapter of the China-Burma-India Veterans Association. She also played in the same Bunco Club on the southeast side of San Antonio for 50 years and made many friends over those years. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 65 years, Luther Gosart Worth, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and her parents, Dorothy Shields Williams and G.L. Williams. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Lu Shoemaker; Bonnie Lucille Garcia and husband, James; son, George William Worth and wife, Karen; sisters, Dorothy Patricia Steck of Woodstock, Georgia, Elizabeth Ormand of Dallas, Bonnie Brown of Dallas; brothers, Robert M. Williams of Ruidosa, NM, and William T. Williams of Dallas; 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey Cash Shoemaker, Joy Allison Shoemaker, Cheryl Ann Worth, Laura Jean Long, Mark William Worth, Jordan Andrew Garcia, Julianne Christine Garcia; 7 great grandchildren, Lucas Cash Shoemaker, Haley Jean Chamorro, Vincent James Chamorro, Jackson Long, Lillly Worth, and Waylon and Westen Worth. SERVICES A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, October 21, 2013, at Mission Park Funeral Chapel North. A service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Mission Park Funeral Chapel North, with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association
