In Loving memory of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Gloria R Gomez Age 93 who went home to be with Jesus on January 4, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born in Brownsville Texas on August 21, 1930 she was one of the twelve children, and moved to San Antonio at the age of 18 in 1948 with her brother and family. She attended masses at San Fernando Catholic Church at the time and present on TV every Sunday. She was a devoted Catholic and loved Jesus! Gloria worked for Lackland Air Force Base and Kelly handling the servicemen uniforms. Gloria traveled around the US for a Magazine company selling catalogs. She enjoyed traveling and meeting other people and the cities. She pursued in cooking and went to work for Northeast Independent School District where she design the hot food menu making 2000 enchiladas with her special sauce. Everyone enjoyed Enchiladas day! She also worked for many other Mexican restaurants in the San Antonio area and shared her cooking skills. Gloria loved sharing and giving back, she lived at Sunshine Plaza Apartment for 20 years and enjoyed cooking for the elderly residents and friends who could no longer cook or drive themselves for hot food. She would wake up early at 3 a.m. in the morning to gather all her pots, pans and ingredients to set up in the community center to make homemade tortillas, chicharron, chirizo & egg, bacon & egg, papa&egg, papa a la Mexicana breakfast tacos with a hot cup of coffee. The residents always enjoyed and look forward to Ms. Gloria’s breakfast tacos. She loved all her friends!! Gloria was a huge fan Spurs, UT and Dallas Cowboys! Gloria was a strong independent woman and raised her children as a single mother. She always made time on paydays to drive them to the drive ins outdoor movie, Jim's restaurant for burgers, Fat Cow for ice cream, swimming pool and cooking delicious Mexican food for the family. After my brother passed, she helped and raised her grandchildren. She was very caring and giving back to family and friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Manuel Robles & Rita Aguilar and (Son) Johnny Gomez In memory of our beloved Gloria, we extend our deepest condolences to their surviving brothers, sisters and extended family members.
