Guadalupe “Lupe” V. Lozano, 81, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Oct. 02, 2024. She was the daughter of Jose and Beatriz V. Vasquez and was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Jennifer Vasquez, her brothers Joe Vasquez, Fernando Vasquez and her beloved husband Joe P. Lozano. She is survived by her daughters Sylvia A. Lozano and Belinda Lozano, her son Gerald J. Lozano, her grandchildren Ethan T. Lozano, Kailey A. Lozano, and Isabelle L. Lozano. In the 81 years that Lupe lived, she was a precious gem who was loved by so many people. From a tender age, Lupe accepted responsibility from her mother from whom she learned how to be patient and nurturing. She carried these skills into her marriage with her husband Joe where nurturing was so natural for Lupe that she went on to care for her elderly father in addition to her husband and their children gracefully. Lupe and Joe’s love was so powerful that you could not find one without the other. Through their golden years, they enjoyed raising the family they created. Lupe loved to do things like going to the drive-in movies, going to parks, feeding ducks all in creating such beautiful memories with her family. She enjoyed decorating her household and reading books about home and gardening. In the mornings she enjoyed sitting outside to watch the sunrise while drinking coffee with Joe, and in the evenings, she liked to sit outside and watch the stars while talking on the phone with her primas, Carolina Lopez and Vicenta Esqueda who were her best friends. Lupe was a breast cancer survivor who beat a very late-stage cancer thanks to being involved in groundbreaking research with Brooke Army Medical Center. Lupe remained steadfast and loyal at Joe’s passing fulfilling her role in caregiving for her grandchildren. Her bereavement uncovered early signs of Alzheimer’s disease and the onset of dementia. Though her behaviors, and orientation changed, her adorable kindness always shined through. First dealing with losing her ability to walk, she eventually lost her ability to speak. Still, she found ways to tell her children and grandchildren she loved her precious time with them. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and a friend. Lupe was truly a precious soul, always a loving caregiver for her loved ones. Lupe is a light in the lives of her children and her love for Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, will be the guiding light that will endure and continue. Her Visitation will be held on Sunday Oct. 13th, 2024, at Mission Park Funeral South between 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. A Rosary will be held at 4:00 pm on Oct. 13th, 2024. The church services are scheduled on Monday Oct. 14th, 2024, at 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. We will then meet for burial services at 1:45 pm at Shelter 1 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Lupe will be missed. Guadalupe V.
