Lupe Sanchez a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister went to be with the Lord on Saturday March 4, 2023. Lupe was born on December 24, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas to Cristobal and Estela De Leon. In heaven, she will rejoin her soulmate of 53 years and beloved husband Jesse A. Sanchez Jr., parents, sister Mary Miranda and brother-in-law Alfredo Miranda. She is survived by her loving daughters Arlene Y. Guevara (Andrew), Liza L. Ortega (Justin), Kimberly A. Sanchez (Wendy) and Jessica E. Andrade (Daniel); grandchildren Alexis Celedon (Ignacio), Alaina Guevara (Andras), Andres Guevara, Alyssa Guevara, Jesse A. Sanchez, Justin Ortega IV, Julia Ortega, Jamison Peña; great – grandchildren Andrew Lamas, Camila Celedon; brother Henry De Leon and numerous nieces and nephews. Lupe graduated in 1968 from Brackenridge High School where she met the love of her life, Jesse A. Sanchez Jr., and the two were married on February 28, 1970. In the years of growing their family, Lupe enjoyed her time spent working retail at Jean Nicole and Bealls. Lupe was full of life and was always ready to go at a moment’s notice. She enjoyed celebrating Fiesta, shopping, and traveling, especially on trips to Rockport, Kickapoo, and Lockhart with her family. Lupe was the foundation of her family’s strong faith and union; she supported her four daughters in all they did and was her grandchildren’s biggest fan and advocate. She taught her family to be strong and to always stand up for what they believe in. Lupe will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. The family would like to thank the staff at the Methodist Hospital, Texas Oncology, Enhabit Home Health and River City Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Leonard Catholic Church with a procession to depart the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (Shelter 1).
