Harvey Henry Hannes Aude left this earth on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the age of 81. He was born in Goose Lake, Iowa to Helma and Ferdinand Aude and was part of a large family that included 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He was raised in a small Iowa farming community and grew to love the outdoors. He enjoyed planting, gardening, fishing and golfing, traveling, and nature. He loved bird watching and had just recently erected his purple martin condo. "It was time for them to come home," he said of the birds. Harvey departed this life on the 15th hole of a golf course – enjoying to the last second the precious gift of life. Harvey recently celebrated his 57th year of marriage to his much-loved wife, Helen Francis Zwernemann. He cherished his family above all else. He was the proud father of three children and grandfather to four beautiful grandsons who were the light of his life. "Pop Pop", as his grandchildren called him, built a fort, rocking horses, and many other toys for them to enjoy. He was actively involved in their lives and, when he was able, attended each event in which they participated. He treasured his family as they will all treasure his legacy of love. Harvey was fiercely patriotic and proudly served in the U. S. Air Force retiring after 20 years. He then spent many years as a dedicated civil servant, finally retiring from his paid work in 1989. He started volunteering on Wednesdays with the Blue Birds of Methodist Hospital. He enjoyed brightening peoples' days and would do anything he was asked to help out. Harvey was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and loved the Lord. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Laverne, and beloved son, Steven. He is survived by his wife Helen, his son Daniel, wife Tawanna, his youngest treasured grandson, Seth as well as Steven's son Jeremy. He is survived by his daughter, Gayna Dupont, husband Ed, and sons Joey and Timmy. He is survived by his brothers, Kermit and Donald, sisters Arlene, and Janet and her spouse. He will also be treasured in the memories of numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. We are thankful for the beautiful, lasting legacy left by Harvey and know he is now at eternal peace. We will never forget his wonderful loving spirit and treasure him every day of our lives.
