A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Hector M. Guzman, Sr. went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2022, at the age of 80, surrounded by his family in San Antonio, TX. He was born on May 31, 1942 in Coal Mine, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Refugio and Ester Guzman; siblings, Salvador Guzman, Ramon Guzman, Refugio “Kito” Guzman Jr., and Ismael Guzman. Hector is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eva Guzman; children, Debra G. Herrera (Pedro), Shirley Guzman, Elva Cris Guzman and Hector Guzman Jr. (Jessica); 12 grandchildren, Gerardo, Andrew, Jeremiah, Matthew, Mark, Christopher, Eric, Cesely, Amberly, Sara, Lauryn and Hector Easton; 26 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; sisters, Rosa Cedillo (Domingo), Mary Garcia (Alex) and Eva Chapa (Alex); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Hector proudly served his country in the army for 27 years. He then moved on to work for Saws for 37 years where he retired. Hector is survived by his loving wife Eva Guzman. They were married 60 years and together raised four children. As a loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family especially on birthdays, sporting events and holidays. Hector enjoyed fishing, dancing, coin collecting, and traveling with his wife and children. In his pass time Hector also enjoyed tending to his yard. He loved going to church, he loved eating breakfast every Friday morning with friends from church and in his younger years volunteered as an alter server. He also had his own private alter on his back porch, where he prayed, and often placed a rose to our blessed mother, Mary. He was a man of faith, strength and wisdom. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Disabled American Veterans, https://www.dav.org/ or the Wounded Warriors Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ Visitation will be on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
