Helen M. Enriquez Obituary Ushered into the arms of her loving Savior Jesus Christ, Helen M. Enriquez, age 96, entered into eternal rest on September 23, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, and 5 brothers and sisters. She is survived by children Samuel (Sylvia) Gonzales, Gilda (David+) Lozano, and Ruth (Mike) Barker; grandchildren Mike Jr., Andrew and Matthew Barker, Steven Gonzales and Christine Wong, and David A. Lozano; and great-grandchildren Isabella, Ethan and Luna Gonzales, Zoe and Lily Wong, Morgan Lozano, and Reece and Ellie Barker. Born on November 6, 1927, in San Antonio, to Jesus Morales and Carmen Brondo, Helen grew up in less complicated times. In an era of simple amusements, Helen experienced a whimsical childhood under the watchful eye of her five brothers and sisters - Fernando, Jesse, Sara, Bertha and Carmen. The baby of the family, Helen learned quickly how to be outgoing, courageous and enterprising. She easily made friends and even learned to make ends meet at an early age. At 14, she was hired for her first job at Studer's photo studio. She began as a technician, but management - recognizing her captivating beauty - recruited her to pose as a model for commercial photos. Helen was hardworking and enterprising all her life, working at various jobs, from Hormel to Grayson's. But her greatest and most accomplished work of all was in raising her 3 children. In 1949, Helen married Roberto C. Gonzales, later giving birth to Samuel, Gilda and Ruth, whom they raised together on the South side of the city. A devoted mother, Helen lovingly doted on her children in so many ways: keeping a meticulously clean home, having a patient bedside manner when they were sick, and providing a welcoming environment for them, and even strangers who learned from neighbors that she would always provide a deliciously cooked meal to any guest. Most importantly, Helen was a woman of great faith and taught her children about the Lord. In her later years, she continued to enjoy a life of adventure. She loved taking her grandchildren in her gold GMC truck to petting farms, flea markets, food places and trips to the ocean. She was known to occasionally frequent casinos, but she especially loved attending holiday and birthday parties with her beloved family. Helen ran the race with courage and grace. In due time, she arrived with honor at the finish line! We celebrate her as a great Grandma, mother and wife. And now it's time for her to receive her Crown of Life!
