In Loving Memory Helen Torres was born on June 29, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas to Lee and Nicolasa Rendon. She departed this life on July 4, 2016 at the age of 84. Her family was by her side when she left to be with the Lord. She is survived by her loving husband Moses, Daughters; Shirley, Sally and friend Kyle Jones, Sons; Jerry and wife Shari, Harry and wife Lorenza, Roland, Martin and Phillip Rendon, Brother; Frank Rendon and wife Olivia, grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Nicolasa Rendon, Brothers; Vidal, Rudy, Joe and Gilbert, Sisters; Elvira Cervantes and Pauline Vasaldua. Helen was married to Moses H. Torres on November 23, 1952. They were married for 63 years.She was easy to love by all who knew her. She dedicated her life to her children especially her son Martin. He was born with intellectual disability and severe seizure disorder. Helen was Martin's greatest advocate. She had great strength and enormous love for him to ensure he lived a life of dignity. Helen had a successful and rewarding career working for the State of Texas at the San Antonio State Hospital. She was very dedicated to her job.She enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her heart was full of love for them. They came to her for advice and she encouraged them to work hard in order to accomplish their goals. Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening and preparing meals for family and friends especially during the holidays. She loved decorating her outdoors during the Christmas season. Christmas was her favorite time of year. Her children have special memories of her as they were growing up. There were the fishing trips to the coast. She would fish for hours. Helen enjoyed going on gambling trips to Las Vegas, Coushatta and Eagle Pass. She was a passionate Spurs fan. She loved and adored her brother Frank and his wife Olivia. She looked forward to their visits and phone calls. Helen stood strong in faith and service to others. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church for many years. She was always filled with great hope even in the midst of fighting the good fight. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, faith, hope and service to others. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Her children will always treasure her memory. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Cristo Calle and staff and Texas Oncology for their support and friendship. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2016 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral procession to depart the funeral home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
