HELEN JOHNSON WOLTERSDORF November 26, 1933 – March 8, 2023 Helen Johnson Woltersdorf was born November 26, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to Louis Joe and Viola Beseler Johnson. She passed away on March 8, 2023 at the age of 89. Our dear mother lived a long and full life. She married our father, Carrol W. Doolen, and spent the next 20 years as a military wife. Their primary residence was San Antonio, but they also spent time in Big Spring and Wichita Falls, Texas. Her second marriage was to James Woltersdorf, a loving and generous man. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. Mother loved to crochet. When she wasn't reading, she was crocheting. She spent many hours crocheting afghans for loved ones, acquaintances, and those in need. Her love of Texas could be seen throughout her home in her red, white, and blue decorations. She enjoyed teaching the grandchildren how to cook and many of them sat on her kitchen counter watching and learning how to make her homemade rolls. Mom was loved by her family and all those who met her. She did not know a stranger and had numerous life-long friends. She was not just our mother, she was our teacher, advisor, and friend. We will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Ruth Daffin and Lucille Whiteturkey; and a brother, Louis Johnson. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, James Herbert Woltersdorf; children: Matthew L. (Nancy Petersen) Doolen, Carolyn E. (John) Seelye, John T. (Cynthia Herrera) Doolen, Cynthia J. (Don) Burrer, and Charlene R. (Miguel Herrera) Wetegrove; 14 Grandchildren: Timothy Doolen, Andrew Doolen, Sean Doolen, John Seelye Jr., Justin Seelye, Jeremy Seelye, Jacob Seelye, Daniel Delgado, Jr., Lindsay Carroll, Michael Carroll, Kaitlyn Fronapfel, Shelby Burrer, Megan Wetegrove, and Hannah Wetegrove; Great-grandchildren: Jerek Seelye, Wrenn Seelye, Spencer Seelye, Morgan Seelye, Hayleigh Jimenez, Ellora Carroll, Edrina Carroll, Rory Fronapfel, Owen Fronapfel, Evelyn Carpenter and James Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews. SERVICES Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 16th at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 17 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels with interment at Mission Burial Park South.
