Henry Charles McCann, Jr., age 97 of San Antonio, Texas, peacefully entered into eternal rest with his wife and son by his side and began his journey to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born October 26, 1925 in San Antonio to Henry Charles McCann, Sr. and Pauline (Jaloway) McCann, both of whom proceeded him in death. A Veteran of World War II, Henry served his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, stationed in China and the Philippines during the conflict. Following the war, he attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, eventually joining the McKesson Corporation until his retirement in 1985. Henry was an active parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, active in the Knights of Columbus, and a member of both the Irish Culture Society and the Harp and Shamrock Society of San Antonio. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling the country in his RV, but will most be remembered for his love of playing Skip-Bo with family and friends. Mr. McCann is survived by his wife of 68 years, Merita Beauclair McCann; his children, Henry Charles (Chuck) McCann, III and his wife, Petra Soemarman McCann, Michael James McCann, Kevin Kurt McCann and his wife, Cathy Tanner McCann, Shawn Gerard McCann, Thomas Shane McCann and his wife, Teri Hardister McCann, Brian Patrick McCann and his wife, Michele Zambelli McCann, Jean Marie McCann Jones and her husband, Marcus Eugene (Geno) Jones; grandchildren, Stephanie Webb and her husband, Stephen, Craig McCann and his wife, Jackie, William McCann and his wife, Katie, Ryan McCann and his wife, Paola, Jake McCann, Zachary McCann and his wife, Katie, Madeline McCann, Samantha McCann, Alistair McCann, Madison McCann, Kiersten McCann, Garrett Jones and his wife, Melissa, Nathan Jones and Michael Jones, and great grandchildren, Collin Webb, Shelbie Webb, Breya McCann, Kayden Wright and McKenzie Jones. The Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst, San Antonio, Texas. The Graveside Service with Military Honors will begin at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road.
