It is with great sadness we, the children of Ignacia (Nancy) Purser, want to inform her friends, former students, and colleagues that she has passed into a new life with Christ on December 7,2020. She was born in Poteet, TX to Eufemia and Carlos Garcia. She was deeply loved by her siblings Bridget Meza, Elena Turk, Eugene Garcia, and Manual Garcia. Her Loving children David Mc Master (Chikako), Kevin P. Purser, Mark A. Purser, Denise M. Purser, James M. Purser (Lily) and Guy M. Purser Jr (Lisa). She was a loving Grandma to Chelsea, Guy III, Lena, Kia, and Jamie. She was an affectionate Great Grandma to Andre. Nancy attended Harlandale High School (class of 1957) and attended Incarnate Word College obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Education. She found her calling as coach at McCollum High School. While there she mentored innumerable teens through the hard transition into young adults. Her career spanned over 50 years; it was a multiple generational impact. Beyond the educational impact she had on her students, she was beloved in her community. This was a result of her genuine concern, her quick smile, and her readiness to give of herself. Throughout her life she loved to travel, especially with friends and family. She never feared jumping in the car with her kids, friends, or siblings and driving cross country. At the end she could claim to have visited all the US states, parts of Canada, Central America, and Europe. Up until the end she was planning trips. She was an avid reader and loved her cigs! If you could imagine her idea of heaven, it’d be a never-ending library. No more late fees, all first editions, and first pick at early releases from her favorite authors. Nancy took pleasure in the simple things in life and in her everyday activities. She had such an infectious giggle, laugh, mischievous smile, and was incredibly positive. She was one of those people who just made everyone else around her feel better. She always was humble, gracious, and generous with her time, always. As our mother mentored many throughout their lives, Alamo Hospice and Debbie Slack-Wuerfel provided endless loving care to our mother during this transition and guided through this journey. We are eternally grateful for your support. Due to COVID-19, a memorial mass will take place later, the date and time is yet to be determined.
