Tributes

Irene C. Ramirez, born Nov. 11th, 1931, transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27th, 2023 at 91 yrs. old. She was preceded in death by: Pedro (husband), Ann Marie (daughter), Joe (brother), and Bertha (sister). A loyal native of San Antonio, TX, she was the oldest of her six siblings and proved early on that she had a pure spirit full of love, care and kindness. She attended Fox Tech High and made a decision to step down from her academia to care for her ill mother. She expressed no regrets in taking care of her mother as she recovered and lived to have a long life. Irene was married for fifty-eight years to the love of her life and they had six children together. She excelled as a mother and “The Virtuous Wife” as described in Proverbs 31:10-31. She was a great steward of finances, a businesswoman, supported her children's scholastic affairs and could always be found in the kitchen cooking a delicious meal for her family. She was a proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and a great grandmother of twenty great grandchildren. She was a strong woman of faith and a firm believer in the name and power of "Jesus Christ." In her many years as a servant of God she was affectionately recognized as "Mother Irene", also known as "Mama." In her years of gained wisdom, she counseled and gave advice to many spiritually adopted sons, daughters, granddaughters and married couples. She was a beacon of God's light, a pillar of strength and a pure source of wisdom to all she came in contact with. Her smile shed the light of "Jesus" everywhere she went. She enjoyed God's creation on this planet Earth. She traveled to several states in the U.S. including Hawaii, New York, Illinois, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Florida, cruised to the Bahamas, and visited Mexico. She made a few trips to experience the beauty of South Africa, Greece, Egypt, and made several visits to Israel (The Holy Land). Her last overseas visit was in 2017, at the age of 86, to Israel and Rome. Most of all, she loved her city of San Antonio, TX, and could be found enjoying the pleasures of the Fiesta Parades, attending Spurs games (her favorite player being Manu Ginobili), walking around Sea World, and rooting for a football game at Harlandale High of whom her children were former graduates. She is survived by: daughters Stella Jimenez, Gloria Ramirez, Alice Tolefree (Son in Law Milton), and Elizabeth Ramirez; son Pete Ramirez Jr; sisters Mary Louise Salazar, and Janie Mayen; brother Jesse Carreon; a very special friend of almost 4yrs Barbara Flores, and many more who came to know and love her. Her memory will remain alive in the hearts she touched, and her legacy will live on!
