Irma Munoz Timms September 8, 1940 – February 3, 2017 Irma M. Timms born September 8, 1940 went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2017, at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel & Epitacia Munoz and brother, Manuel Munoz. Survivors include her beloved husband Charles Timms Sr., loving son Charles Timms Jr. (Margaret); sister Nelda M. Cardenas (Richard); brothers-Raul Munoz (Mary); Jesse Munoz (Irma) and many other loving family members and friends. Irma was born in the small city of Premont, Texas. She was one of five siblings. Irma’s goal and dream, even as a child, was to be successful in life. She was blessed with determination, drive, and intelligence, which made her one very strong lady. At the age of 24, she married Charles Timms Sr. from South Carolina and they were later blessed with a son, Charles Timms Jr. Irma worked at Santa Rosa Hospital for a couple of years and during the same time she and Charles Sr. started their business. Their business later merged with their son’s business and is now known as Timms Trucking & Excavating, LTD. Charles Sr. and Jr. continue to run the business. The company that began over 50 years ago with one truck, now employs over 30 employees. In the Business, Irma was highly organized and expected nothing but excellence from company employees especially her staff. For many years, she worked tirelessly in the office. She was very well known for being direct, opinionated, and honest. Whether you were an owner of a major company, politician, family member or friend, she was never afraid to speak her mind. Regardless of being a tough woman, Irma had a soft heart. She not only worked hard in the family business, but she made time for her community by volunteering in the Finance and Festival Committees at St. Clare Catholic Church and later at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She also started the first Fashion Show to raise funds for the Ladies of Charity, a charitable organization. Irma was also involved in organizations that were involved in preserving and improving the Southside of Bexar County. In addition, she worked with local and state politicians to seek approval for federal monies to improve Somerset Road. All the events and efforts led by Irma were always successful. Personally, Irma was a vibrant woman who enjoyed life. She loved fashion, traveling, collecting antique furniture and curios. She loved dancing, shopping, good food and music, especially cumbias, rancheras, corridos and mariachi music. She enjoyed attending the theater and loved putting family events together especially during Christmas and Easter. Everyone loved coming to Tia Irma’s parties. Irma also had a beautiful smile and could charm anyone to share in good conversation and laughter. Irma so dearly loved her friends and family, especially her son, Charles Jr. who was her life. They shared mutual respect, love and friendship. She was happy when Charles married Margaret, a beautiful addition to the Timms family. In 2006, Irma became ill and her health declined. We will miss having this Special Lady in our lives and pray that she has found the peace and loving embrace of God. Thank you Irma for sharing your life with us and loving us. You will always be loved! Visitation will begin on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
