Jane Robin Lawson Bowers was born in Lubbock, Texas on January 27, 1928 to Henry and Leila Lawson. She passed on February 7, 2023 and is preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Homer Lawson and Henry Neal Lawson, and her great granddaughter, Brayleigh Jane Free. Jane is survived by her cherished husband, Robert Lee Bowers Jr, her sons and their wives, Ronny and Kay, Gary and Tandy, Lee and Cindy, Henry and Denise as well as Jane’s cousin Gail Furrh who was like a sister to her. Jane was blessed with and loved dearly by 11 grandchildren and ¬23 great-grandchildren. Growing up in Lubbock, Jane attended Texas Tech University and the University of Texas. In 1958, Bob & Jane married and resided in Brownfield, Texas. Bob’s service in the Texas State Legislature moved their family to Austin and business ventures eventually took them to San Antonio. There wasn’t a time in Jane’s life that she wasn’t involved. She loved the company of others so participating in activities suited her well. As a young lady, Jane enjoyed participating in Thespians, cheerleading, and being a proud Kappa Alpha Theta. When Jane was chosen as Football Sweetheart, they described her as “A blonde bundle of dynamite”. That blonde bundle of dynamite supported Bob beautifully in all of his businesses and life ventures. With 4 boys, Jane proved to be a great sport as she participated fully in all that the “boys” called fun! Camping, hunting, and fishing were definitely on the list. Jane had the gift of creating beautiful things. Whether sewing the boys “Jams” to wear in the swimming pool, creating a beautiful home for family & guests, or fashioning the most beautiful gifts with ribbon & bows, Jane’s touch made things lovely. Jane did not shy away from challenges. Her sharp mind and competitive spirit earned her the title of Bridge Life Master. Oh, how she loved her Bridge games and the people she played with! At the age of 89, Jane took up golf and there is no doubt that she was among the favorites at the El Dorado Country Club in Indian Wells! Jane had many dear friends throughout her lifetime. Emma Guevara was a blessing to Jane for many years. For the past 3 years, Karen Kosub and the staff at The Forum were devoted to caring for Jane lovingly and diligently. Candy May sweetly embraced Jane as a friend and caregiver, always eager to provide anything that would enhance Jane’s day-to-day life. Bob and Jane traveled the world extensively and made friends everywhere they went. Jane was hospitable, gracious, loving, intelligent, and beautiful. All who were greeted by Jane received a warm smile and a kind word. The Lord blessed Jane Robin Lawson Bowers with a life that abounded with deep love, every day life adventures, spectacular experiences and beauty. She IS loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 17, 2023 at MacArthur Park Church of Christ, 1907 NE Loop 410, 78217.
