For memorial card: Janice Christine O’Donnell of San Antonio, Texas, was called home to be reunited with her beloved husband on Thursday, January 27, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Gardner, her parents, Bill and Charlotte (Whitcomb) O’Donnell and her twin brother, John. Janice, or better known as “Grandma”, is survived by her daughter Tana Leonard, Tana’s husband Jarrod; her granddaughters, Savannah and Shelby; siblings, Julaine, Jimmy and Jeanine, as well as many nieces and nephews. Janice was born in Pasadena California. Janice was raised in Texas and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1971. A vibrant child, loving daughter, and the best sister to her siblings, Janice drew people to her from the moment she came into this world. In adulthood Janice moved to Dallas where she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Gardner. Janice and Bill eventually moved to San Antonio, Texas where they lived and raised their family. Janice worked in the insurance industry the vast majority of her professional career. She was well known for her beautiful spirit, kind heart, and loving nature. She was quick to make lifelong friendships with many people while working at SWBC over the last 32 years. Janice was fierce in her love for her family and friends, always willing to drop everything for anyone, including her animals. She adored her cats and made sure to give them all a loving home. Janice was always known for her love to entertain, enjoyed going to dinner and a movie with her most special friends. Dancing at dinner parties with her incredibly striking beauty was instantly the brightest light in the room. It was upon the arrival of her two beautiful granddaughters, Savannah and Shelby, that Janice’s world changed forever. She instantly won the prize for “best grandmother ever”, developing a beautiful special bond with her granddaughters over the last 15 years. While often taking them on all day shopping trips, movie nights, ice cream runs, and weekend long swimming and fun in the sun adventures. The love she held for her granddaughters was immeasurable and like no other. A bond so special that even now two worlds apart, will never be separated. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Oak Hills Mortuary, 8332 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, Texas 78229. Reception to follow service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janice’s name to the Animal Defense League of Texas.
