Our beloved brother, Jerry Canedo passed away in his sleep on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2023. He is preceded in death by his Father, Joe B. Canedo, Mother Virginia Castillo Lopez, Grandparents, Cesar Castillo and Trinidad Aguilar. He is survived by his brothers, Santos Lopez and his wife, Tonya, Ernest Canedo and his wife, Julie and Joe Canedo, Jr; nieces and nephews, Leigh Canedo, Marcus Canedo and his wife Roxie, Nicholas Canedo, Jakub Lopez and his wife Daniela, Derek Lopez and his wife, Jocelyn, Brandi Lopez, Tyler Hager and Zachary Rodriguez and his wife, Ashley; great nephews and great nieces, Derek Lopez, II, Kleon Lopez, Ty Saint Lopez, Kaius Lopez, Ariah Canedo, Turner Hager, Eli Hager, Parker Hager, Zacariah Rodriguez, Elenore Rodriguez; his aunts, Irene Gutierrez and Rosemary Tellez and her husband, Benjamin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins on the Canedo family side. Jerry was a funny and cheerful brother who lived his life to the fullest. His sad passing away on Veteran’s Day is a testimonial for Love of the U.S. Military. Though not bound by blood, he shared an inseparable bond, to all his friends that Jerry cherished as part of his family with love. Jerry “Godfather” was known for his many jokes and fascinating stories. He had a close relationship with football teammates at Jefferson high school, and despite life’s challenges, he faced them with courage and resilience, teaching all friends he met the true meaning of strength. Jerry had an impact on the football field, he made the starting lineup as a sophomore, he played along-side with San Antonio Gabe who ended up playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a member of the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. Jerry will be enormously grateful to be in the same cemetery as Gabe. Jerry was a profound true Jefferson Mustang alumni who Loved all his Jefferson classmates. Jerry considered Jefferson Mustang classmates as family. Jerry will be placed with in the crypt with his mother, Virginia C. Lopez at her service on Tuesday, September 7, 2024 at Mission Burial Park North Mausoleum where she will be placed below her Mother, Jerry’s Grandmother, Trinidad Aguilar. Jerry left us too soon, but his memory will live on in our hearts, a testament to his profound impact on those blessed to know him.
