"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" Ecclesiastes 3:1 Jerry Charles Taylor was born June 6th, 1933 in Marlow, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully in his sleep December 19, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife Jane Ellen Taylor of 30 years, their children, daughters: Deanna McKinney, husband Mark; Jodie Harden, husband Peter; Susan McPadden, husband Stephen; Katherine Wilber, husband Michael; sons: David Speed, wife Sherry; Bill Speed, wife Sandra, thirteen grandchildren including three spouses, seven great grandchildren and one brother Jimmy Taylor, wife Linda. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and three sisters. Jerry grew up in the small town of Marlow, Oklahoma and had fond memories of working in the family cafe, riding his horse and going to the pond. He graduated high school in 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and retired after proudly serving his country for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy he worked as a car salesman and then in retail as a store manager for over 40 years until he retired in 2010. Jerry was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Jane and he never missed an opportunity to tell her and anyone who would listen that she was his beautiful wife and the love of his life, and he loved spoiling her every chance he got. They shared much love between them along with the hard times. Almost nine years ago their hardest time began when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, there were many struggles but through it all their love remained the same. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, watching the Spurs and old movies and making people laugh. He was a generous and fair man who never met a stranger. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Northeast Rehabilitation and Patriot Heights Rehabilitation for the love and care they showed to Jerry during his time with them. The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Jerry's memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Visitation will be January 5, 2021 at Mission Park Funeral Home @ 11:00 AM. Graveside Service and burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30.
