DEACON JESSE C. GALVAN July 16, 1941 – July 8, 2015 Deacon Jesse C. Galvan served his God and family faithfully for over 50 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country with a highly decorated 32 year military career. After his lengthy military career, he returned to San Antonio where he embarked on his second career as an ISS Administrator with NISD for 12 years at Taft High School where he was affectionately known as Mr. G. During these years, he mentored many young people some of them wanted to quit or drop out of school but he encouraged them to stick it out and graduate-many did. He was a founding member of St. Anthony Mary Claret Roman Catholic Church, where he helped establish many ministries within the parish one of which was the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th degree Knight. He and his wife Rosemary also established the Two Hearts Prayer Group on their 34th wedding anniversary as a gift to their faith community to be a place of comfort, healing and a welcome place for all in need of prayer. In 2001 Jesse was ordained a permanent Deacon with the Roman Catholic Church, he was happiest as a willing servant of God winning back countless souls. Deacon Jesse will not only be missed dearly by his family, but by the many people whose lives he touched through the years. Although the struggle with his health toward the end of his life was difficult. One thing remains "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will take up wings like eagles. They will run and not struggle. They will walk and not tire" Is 40:31 Now run to your heavenly Father in Heaven Jesse and accept your reward of salvation. …. 'Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:21 Deacon Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Manuela & Jesus Galvan. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary G. Galvan; mother-in-law, Maria Gallegos Lopez; children, Lisa Gilbert Apolinar, Col. Jesse D. Sheila Galvan, Martie Mark Kokotajlo, Gabriel Jaclyn Galvan; sister, Beatrice Sanchez; brother, Gustavo Galvan; grandchildren, Anjelica and Belicia Apolinar, Nicole and Jesse Galvan, Christopher, Sara, Michael Kokotajlo, Gia, Sofia, and Christian Galvan; and a host of many dear friends. Services Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, july 16, 2015 at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
