Jessie "Sonny" William Scott, a well-known pigeon flyer in the Texas Center area for the last 46 years, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the age of 66. He was born October 9, 1942, in Little Rock Arkansas. He graduated from Harlandale High School in l962 and married Mary Linda Tolson on November 27, 1964. Sonny was a letter carrier for many years at the Terrell Wells postal station. He was an avid fisherman and teller of long tales. He loved Nascar, card playing, baseball, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Nolan Ryan and all things Yankees. Sonny enjoyed coaching for many years in the Harlandale Senior League where his "Coca Cola" team enjoyed many great seasons; with one season of 57-2. He also coached the 1973 Senior All-Stars; taking them to state where they placed 2nd. His greatest joys were visiting and celebrating Christmas with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Mary Emma Trammell Scott; father and mother in laws, Norman and Brenda Neal Tolson; his brother in laws, Harold and Ronald Tolson. Survivors include his wife, Mary Linda Tolson Scott of San Antonio and his sister Betty Scott of Lytle. Nieces Lori children Brandon and Alycia; Lisa children Taylor and Kayla, and Leah; Nephews, Kenny and Chris children; sister-in-law Wanda Tolson of Loma Vista. Nephews Darrell and wife Melissa Tolson children AJ, Kevin, Anna and Michael of Bay City; Gale Tolson children Amanda, Ashley, Ethin and Trent of Jonestown; Kyle Tolson of Loma Vista. Sister in law Anna Raye Tolson of Denton. Nieces Elizabeth and husband Bob Pickens children Jordan and Shelby of Katy; Rhonda and husband Steve Dowling children Kiely, Regan, Heather and Kendall of Denton; Cheryl and husband Michael Dumas children Justin, Allison, and Lani of St Charles, Missouri; Linda Raye Tolson of Carrollton; Uncles, Coach MJ Trammell and Albert Gholson of San Antonio; Aunt, Virginia Trammell. He is also survived by numerous cousins, friends and his beloved dogs, Abby, BeBe and Leroy. Special thanks to Charles Taylor, care giver. Memorial Service will be held at Mission Park South Saturday, June 6 2009, at 1:00 PM. Reverend Lewis Retzloff officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross or the SPCA Humane Society of San Antonio.
