Jimmy “Westy” Roland Westmoreland, 90, of San Antonio Texas, passed away on March 14, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2020 from 5:00-7:00pm at Mission Park North located at 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, Texas, 78230. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 11:00am at Mission Park North. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. Westy was born in Abilene, Texas to Ausy Rufus Westmoreland and Ambry Melba McCleskey on October 22, 1929. He attended Regan Senior High School and joined the Navy his Senior year. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Navy as an Electrical Technician from 1948 to 1952 where he graduated from the U.S. Naval School of Electronics at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He received an honorable discharge from the military and also received his High School Diploma in 1951. Westy graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in Management in 1960. He is preceded in death by his mother and father as well as his two brothers, James Travis Westmoreland and Dr. Jackie “Jack” Coogan Westmoreland. Westy is survived by his four children, James Glen Westmoreland, Robert Lynn Westmoreland, John Russell Westmoreland and Amber Westmoreland Leon, his grandchildren, Calli Rene Jochum, Lindsey Lee Guzman, Elise McKenna Westmoreland, Sean Hunter Westmoreland, Hunter Dylan Westmoreland, Sutton Eileen Leon and Christian Westmoreland, as well as his great grandchild, Michael Donovan Jochum III. Westy is also survived by his sister in law, Simone Westmoreland as well as his three daughters in law Peggy Westmoreland, Carol Westmoreland, Liezel Westmoreland and his Son in Law, Christopher Leon. He is lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and family as well as his beloved dog, Peanut. Westy was a man of all trades. He was a graduate, a veteran, a businessman, a chef, a craftsman, a carpenter, a mechanic, a poet, a fisherman, a hunter, an avid outdoorsmen, a son, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, a father, a grandfather and a great grandfather. Most of all, he loved spending quality time with his loved ones. Family was his most prized possession. He is an irreplaceable soul that will forever leave a mark on those whose lives he touched. The family wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude to the countless family and friends who checked in on Westy, whether by phone or in person. Your love and care meant the world to him and to us.
