It is with deep sadness, but also joy in the promise of eternal life with our Lord, Jesus Christ, we share that our beloved, Joe R. Ventura, passed away on November 15, 2023, at the age of 87. He was reunited with the love of his life, Sulema C. Ventura. He is preceded in death by his parents Jose R. Ventura Sr. and Juanita Rocha, (Son) Albert Hernandez, (Sisters) Alice and Carmalita Ventura, (Brother) Juan Ventura, and (Son-In-Law) Raul Dorado. He is very loved and will be greatly missed by his children Jesusita Rodriguez (Joe), Sylvia Dorado, Annabelle Alameda (Armando), Jimmy Ventura, Robert Ventura, (Daughter-In-Law) Sylvia Hernandez, (Sisters) Vicky, Mary, Jovita, Trinidad, (12 Grandchild) Roseanne, Jennifer, Roger (Ashley), Eddie, Michelle, Denise (Isaac), Valerie, Armando (Veronica), Amanda (Greg), Melissa, Vanessa, and James, (Great Grandchildren) Serena, Jaden, RJ, Kendall, Dylan, Isaiah, Jazlyn, Zariah, Jacob, Gabriel, Lauren, Moses, Nyla, Micah, Scarlett, Cataleya, (Great, Great Grandchildren) Aiden and Ethan, and other loving family members and friends. Joe shared his passion for cooking in over 50 years of experience as a Chef and established the San Antonio Chef’s Association, after attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He served in the Army Reserves in the 357th Infantry. Joe was part of the St. John Berchmans Parish, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe loved spending time with family during spontaneous getaways and gambling trips, but most of all enjoyed doing his crossword puzzles while watching western movies. He and his jokes will be dearly missed by all his loved ones, but we know that he is right where he wanted to be, beside his loving wife. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. A celebration will be on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, starting with a procession from the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. to the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Berchman Catholic Church, interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
