BELTRAN John Joseph Beltran passed away on December 11, 2009 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on July 26, 1926 in Austin, TX to Juan J. Beltran and Luisa Hernandez Beltran. Following high school graduation from Fox Tech in San Antonio, John served his country in World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. Following the war, he earned an associate degree from The New York Art Institute where he met his beloved Madeline of Irvington, New Jersey. The couple married in New Jersey on February 16, 1952 and soon moved to San Antonio to begin their life together. In San Antonio, John entered the furniture and appliance business where worked for Stowers and King Furniture companies. He worked briefly in the insurance industry and then became the General Manager of the Sanitary Tortilla Factory for 30 years, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. B." John was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in San Antonio for 45 years. He served the parish as an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. John was an active member of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce where he served as president in 1976. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was a loyal friend to so many. He loved joyous gatherings and celebrating around the table with wonderful food and drink with his family and friends. He will be gone from our sight, but not from our hearts. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Rebecca Ortiz-Colon and Lucia Beltran. John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Madeline Cicalese Beltran; daughters, Theresa Schimelpfening and husband Joe of Kingwood, TX, and JoAnne Beltran of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Sister Marie Gerard Beltran, S.S.C.J. of San Antonio, TX, and Mary Louise Beltran Trevino and husband Jesse of McAllen, TX; granddaughter, Allison Schimelpfening of College Station, TX; six nieces and seven nephews. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Thursday-December 17, 2009 beginning at 5:00PM, with a Rosary at 7:00PM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday-December 18, 2009 at 11:00AM at the church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst, San Antonio, TX 78213.
