John Harvey Fortier went to be with our Lord on December 24, 2015, at the age of 55. He was born on November 9, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas, the 8th child of Alfred Jospeh Fortier and wife, Jeraldene Ida Norris Fortier. John had a great sense of humor, yet was a deep thinker. He enjoyed a good western book or a good mystery. He grew up working on the family farm, tending animals and gardens, along side his siblings. He loved to play games and was very competative. He competed in UIL in Spelling and participated in Chess Championships in school. He was a big animal lover, his pet dogs were Reno and Rusty. While in 4-H and FFA, he showed chickens, a Jersey Heifer names "Lotus" and his pet rabbit "Zepher" which brought him Reserve Grand Champion. He sang in a trio and quartet in high school, but his talent didn't stop there, he was also an artist, and painted many pictures for family members and friends. John was proud of his job with AACOG and referred to his passengers and co-workers as "friends". John loved bird watching, nature in general, fishing and hunting. He never married or moved from his childhood home. He was a dedicated son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred J. and Jeraldene I.N. Fortier, sisters Rebecca Marie Fortier, Loretta Kay Fortier Wood and Rhilda Jean Fortier Potter, niece Shannon Azlin Johnson, nephew Zachary Wayne Goodall, great-nephew Luke Lyons Neves, and great-nieces Mallory Hope Hibner and Ruby Claire Summerville. He is survived by brother, Alfred J. Fortier, Jr. and wife Katherine, sisters Elizabeth F. Schnur, Jeraldene I. Azlin and husbnad Larry, Marjorie Lajoy Fortier, Jennifer F. Goodall and husband Dennis, brother-in-laws, David L. Potter and James M. Wood; nephews and nieces, David L. Potter, Jr., Jarrett J. Potter, Alfred "Joseph" Fortier, III, and wife Tanya, Matthew Fortier, Sarah Fortier, Jeremy Schnur, James Wood, Jr., Cathryn and husband Brian Bennett, Jason Wood and wife Lesley, Steven Neves and wife Dona, Rebekah and husband Marc Hibner, Suzan Azlin, Tami Quinn, Jana and husband Chad Summerville, April and husband Eric Campell, Bonnie and husband John Garcia, Linda Marie Goodall, many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. John's beautiful smile and laughter is remembered by many and will be missed by all. My Mother's Garden Sunlight filters through the leaves to reveal the scene, and activity begins, songbirds of all kinds wing they're way here; cardinals, mockingbirds, sparrows and wrens. They come to drink and frolic in the stone bath, and may even reward us with a song, A cotton-tailed visitor feeds silently at the edge of this verdant oasis, then moves along. Within these colorful confines shades of pink, white, purple and blue abound, roses, snapdragons, daffodils and others are inside the pretty red bricks that surround. A boy made of stone guards over this place of beauty, His name is Andrew and he was put here for this special duty. The soft petals of a pink rose exude a delightful perfume, Honey bees and hummingbirds buzz and dine amongst the variety of bloom. I never tire of resting in the shade that our sycamore throws, To enjoy the sights, sounds and fragrance of this place where Life begins and grows. Caring hands of someone worked here to create something so rewardin, Someone I Love You see, for this is My Mother's Garden!
