John Z. Ramirez entered eternal rest on July 17, 2026, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Connie Ramirez; his parents, Petra Lopez Ramirez and Inocencio Ramirez; his brothers, Nick and Victor Ramirez; and his sister, Natividad Ramirez. He is survived by his loving children, Victor Ramirez (Anna) and Karen (David); his cherished grandchildren, Lilliana, Nicholas, Avery, Zachary, Samuel, and Gabriella; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory. John proudly served his country for 22 years, beginning with 10 years in the Army Reserve before completing his military career with the Air National Guard. His military service shaped his character and allowed him to build lifelong friendships that he valued throughout his life. Following his service, John enjoyed a successful career as a sheet metal mechanic and small business owner. For more than 40 years, he applied his skill, determination, and ingenuity while specializing in hydraulic equipment. His strong work ethic and willingness to help others earned him the respect of colleagues, friends, and family alike. Known affectionately as "Chaca," "Juan," or "Mr. Ramirez," John treasured no titles more than Dad and Grandpa. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, godfather, and friend. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, and it seemed there were few places he could go without being greeted by someone whose life he had touched. His generosity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family will be remembered by all who knew him. The Ramirez family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who visited, called, offered prayers, and provided support throughout John's illness. Though his memory faded in his later years, the love he carried for his family remained steadfast. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the Rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2026,at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, followed by interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. John's life was defined by faith, service, hard work, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
