John Sargent Santaniello, born on July 12th, 1942 in Ipswich, Massachusetts to John Clement Santaniello and June Mabel Grace Lander went home to be with our Lord on December 22nd, 2004 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Schlerosis. He was a resident of San Antonio for 58 years and was employed by Handy Andy Grocery for 31 years holding several positions including Credit Union General Manager. Although Multiple Schlerosis challenged his physical capabilities, he remained optimistic everyday of his life. Everyone he met was touched by his beautiful smile and enormous sense of humor. His presence in our world was a present to the world because of his tremendous strength and spirit. Prior to his declining health, his favorite pastime included attending the races at Pan American Speedway and taking his '56 Ford Fairlane' that he referred to as "The Monster" for a cruise around town. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and getting into mischief with his brother, Jim. Most recently his time was spent listening to radio programs such as Dave Ramsey and Rush Limbaugh and figuring out how to make his next dollar by either selling gold or buying his next stock. He also had a love for his dog, Boots who never left his bedside since the day he was born 9 years ago. Preceding him in eternal rest are his stepfather, Earle M. Towne. To cherish his memories are his mother, June L. Towne, brothers, James S. Santaniello and wife Bonnie, Richard E. Towne and Harold Bill Towne all of San Antonio. Brother, Randy L. Towne and wife Debbie of Newport News, Virginia. Sister, Erlene M. Stephens and husband Bryon of San Antonio. Nephews, Scott Hodgkiss of San Antonio, John Towne, James Towne and wife Kim of Newport News, Virginia, Marc Santaniello of Sacramento, California, Robert Moore and wife Nikki of San Antonio. Nieces, Amanda Diaz and husband Romeo of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Ashley Hodgkiss of San Antonio, Melissa Sears and husband Joe of Norfolk, Virginia, Brittany, Evie and Diana Stephens of San Antonio. Grand Nephews, Alexander and Christian Diaz of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Alex Santaniello of Phoenix, Arizona, Ryan A. Towne of Newport News, Virginia, Ryan and Kyle Moore of San Antonio. Our family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses of Methodist Hospital for the care you gave to him in his final hours. In lieu of flowers, please make monetary donations to the Multiple Schlerosis Foundation. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
