John Ross Winckler joined his Lord on March 29, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on May 21, 1958 in New York, New York to Leonid Edgar Winckler and Carol Hendy Winckler. John was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jeffrey Allen Winckler. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Teresa Smith Winckler; daughter, Abigail Winckler; and sister, Terry Elam (John); Nieces, spouses; Jennifer O’Neill (John), Katie Elam and Lauren Moreth (Jason) and all of the children; Aidan, Chloe, Jakob, Amelia and Sophia. His family was his most loved possession. John had beautiful parents and a wonderful childhood growing up with his younger brother, Jeffrey and sister, Terry who was only 13 months older than him. He and his family were blessed to have many close friends that were considered extended Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Newark, Delaware and Huntsville Alabama were their homes before moving to Memphis Tennessee around 1970. John was extremely intelligent and ended up graduating from high school a year early in 1975. He continued his education at Memphis State University obtaining his degree in Engineering. He was an alumni of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. John lost his brother in 1980 which gave him a deep heartache that never left him. His life was forever changed which made his love to hold his family and friends even closer more important than anything else. John’s kindness to help others and maintain life long friendships was how he kept his heart happy. After graduating, John was offered a job with Trane Air Conditioning and left Memphis to start his life long career in A/C Engineering. John was one of the original owners of Enviro-Tex, which HTS bought out in 2002. He started with HTS as the Sales manager in the Austin office and he moved down to San Antonio a bit after HTS took over. John carried HTS San Antonio for the first 5+ years. He was a mentor to everyone. Winckler was known for his teaching and being the forever optomist. His account list was solely friends and relationships he had made in his 30+ years in the industry. As an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman, John passed on his love for the outdoors to his most prized possession – his daughter Abby. On the many many Daddy / daughter trips to the coast and leases, great and unforgettable memories were made. They had a truly beautiful bond. We will all miss the “wincklerisms” that made John who he was. From his love of Trump to chicken wings for breakfast. If you were blessed to have had John in your life, you know you were an important part of his happiness and you truly knew real friendship and or love.
