Johnny Joe Salazar Jr., at the age of 40, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2023. He was born February 10, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas to his parents Martha and Johnny Salazar Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Jennifer Marie Salazar, his children; Johnny Joe Salazar III, Xavier Rey Salazar, and Andrew James Salazar, his parents; Martha G. Salazar and Johnny J. Salazar Sr., his sister; Nancy Jean Salazar Esquivel (Edward Esquivel), Nieces; Victoria, Allison and Emily Esquivel, and maternal grandmother; Yolanda G. Garza, Goddaughter’s Victoria Kristen Esquivel and Karissa Garcia and God parent’s Mario and Elva Z. Salazar; Mother in law Norma Garcia, Father in law Andrew Garcia and brother’s in law Ernest, David and Nick Garcia and their spouses, and numerous aunts and uncles, nephews, cousins, and many great friends. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents; Angelina R. Salazar & Ruben T. Salazar, and maternal grandfather; Jesus V. Garza. Aunts; Maria Eloisa Barraza, Maria Elena Vieira- Branco. Johnny Joe graduated from South San High School class of 2001 and continued his studies at Palo Alto College as well as St. Philips Culinary College. He was the proud (small business owner) of J’s Prime Time Bar-B-Que Catering and loved feeding people. He did many volunteer events and that made him feel good. He never forgot his roots. He loved the South side where he was raised and met his lifelong friends. His pride and joy were his children and his wife and family. He joined the USMC in 2001 and dedicated his time in the Marines serving his country and fighting for our freedom. He was a Stinger gunner, Martial Arts instructor and was a Corporal in the Marine Corps. He received Combat Action ribbon (Iraq), Marine Core Good Conduct Ribbon (2nd award) Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award). Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Certificate of Commendation, Rifle Marksman Badge, Certificate of Appreciation. Most of all he loved his family deeply and would do anything for anyone. He had a heart of Gold. He will forever be loved and missed and live in our hearts. And we will carry his legacy by honoring him in the way that he lived and served the community. In Lieu of flowers please donate to his family’s go fund me account.
