Talamantez Jose Joe Fermin Talamantez age 72 passed on quietly into the Arms of Jesus, Our Heavenly Father on October 16, 2011. Joe as we called him, was the second son of Maria and Juan Talamantez who precede him in death along with his brothers Inez Frutoso and Julio Talamantez. He was born in Laredo, TX and moved to San Antonio with his parents since he was 15 years old. He attended Edgewood High School, and then at an early age went to work to help his parents. He was a "Jack of all Trades", hard working, compassionate and loving man. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus and later as Grand Knight. He helped raise money for the less fortunate and the Sisters of St. Francis. His home was open to all who had a need without questions asked, he always saw the good in all people. He was the greatest brother anyone could possibly have. The greatest husband, friend and mentor with a beautiful heart of gold. He was a family man who truly made his family his priority. He loved his family very much and did the very best anyone could ask for. He was the best son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife Frances of 44 years; five children: Maria Isabel Valdez, Edward G. Barajas and wife Gabi, Brenda Wildburger and husband David, Lee Fermin, Johnny Talamantez and wife Cindy; sisters: Maria Clark and husband William, Vivian Young and husband Douglas; brother Hector Talamantez and wife Lupe; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind nieces, nephews, and many friends, an uncle Isidro Perez, aunt Augustina Velmares. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casinos for fun, camping, travel, sports, cook-outs and most important he loved Bar-B-Qing for his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all of us, yet we know he is now resting in a better place. Services Visitation will begin Friday, October 21, 2011, from 4:00 - 9:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 9:00 am - 12:00 PM. A funeral service will begin Saturday at 12:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Services will conclude in the chapel.
