Josephine Mae Haile was born on August 16th, 1937. Born to Mildred and Christopher McCormick, Josephine grew up with her 6 siblings in northern Illinois. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing sports with her brothers and attending church. At a young age, Josie gave her heart to the Lord and pursued a relationship with Jesus and His church. After graduating high school, Josie, moved to San Antonio, Texas to attend International Bible College. During her freshmen year of college, she met John Newman. They married and had four daughters, Jodi, Jeri, Juli and Joy. They spent time in Germany and then settled permanently in San Antonio, Texas. Motherhood define Josie’s life, and through the years she sacrificed to provide for the needs of her girls. Josie made sure her daughters all knew how much she loved them and provided them with an example of how to be a godly woman. She also made sure to instill in each of her girls to be practical, to exercise discipline and have a good ole common sense! Josie was blessed to know the love of two families. She married Norval Haile in 1982. Josie and Norval spent 25 beautiful years together before Norval was called to his heavenly home. Although grown, Norval’s children Janet, Robert and Norval embraced Josie into their lives and hearts. Josie and Norval shared the loved of their children, 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren! Norval and Josie loved to travel, entertain, and hosted epic Easter Egg Hunts and Christmas Eve bonfires! Josie loved to serve her local church. Throughout the years she served as a Sunday School teacher, worked in the nursery, volunteered for Vacation Bible School and one of her greatest joys was serving as the kitchen hostess for the annual Destiny World Missions Conference. After retiring from a long career at Samuels Glass Company she worked at Destiny Church in the office. Josie had an infectious laugh, and her eyes twinkled when she smiled! She loved the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs and loved watching sports on television, even more so if there were some grandkids around to watch with her! She was an incredible cook, an avid reader, she loved to sew and embroider and through the years made countless dresses, costumes and hemmed more pants than could be counted! Her cheese enchiladas were the best in Texas! Josie loved her family more than anything. Her heart and home were always open to family and friends. Her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren meant more than anything in the world to her. She absolutely loved her friends, especially her TOPPS ladies and the ladies she served with at Destiny Church. Josie had lifelong friendships and cherished each one. Josie was preceded in death by her loving husband Norval Haile, her first born daughter Jodi Bell, her parents, and siblings. Josie is survived by Jeri Tolbert, Juli Manz Dickson, Joy Magatagan, Janet Haile, Robert and Debbie Haile, Norval Haile, her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of Josie’s life on Saturday, November 19th, 2022. The service will be held in the chapel up the hill at Destiny Church, San Antonio, Texas. The family will receive visitors at 10 am and the service will begin at 11am. Immediately following the service, Destiny Church is providing a luncheon.
