The family of Josefina “Josie” Jeffries of San Antonio, Texas, is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the age of 70. At 1:30 p.m., Josie peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family. Josie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Angie, her parents Cristino and Carmen Soto, and several brothers and sisters. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of fifty years, Bill Jeffries; her sons Willie (Arjelia) and Eli (Esmeralda); and her cherished grandchildren Elisha (Oscar), Angie, Zoe, Zacchaeus, Neveah, and Leah. Josie is also survived by her siblings Ellenita Delgado, Chris Soto, Henry Soto, Willie Soto, Margie Vidal, and Louis Soto, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, her Southside Church of God family, and the members of God’s Guardian Angels Ministry. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 31, 1954, Josie was the youngest daughter of Cristino and Carmen Soto. She met the love of her life, Bill Jeffries, while hitchhiking in Ohio. As Bill fondly recalled, “She moved into my life and never moved out.” They were married on June 13, 1975, and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary just four days before her passing. Josie lived a life marked by deep faith, service, and compassion. She had a heart for animals and rescued many over the years. Additionally, she was actively involved in a motorcycle ministry and was known for her unwavering commitment to prayer, often praying for others even during her own hospital stays. Josie was a generous and giving soul who dedicated herself to helping those in need, never hesitating to lend a hand or a listening ear. She was also the author of The Lost Soul, a book chronicling her personal journey and faith. Her presence at Southside Church of God was unforgettable, those who attended alongside her knew well her loving determination to bring family and friends to the altar in prayer. A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Southside Church of God, 406 Boswell, San Antonio, TX 78214. A celebration of her life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, also at Southside Church of God, with interment to follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park, 5611 E. Houston St., San Antonio, TX 78220. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated medical team at University Hospital, especially Dr. Antonio R. Anzueto (UT Medicine), and the compassionate staff of the 5th floor ICU. A special thank-you goes to Pastors Brady and Vannessa Hacker and the Southside Church of God family for their faithful prayers and visits throughout Josie’s illness.
