Josephine Patricia Kempen, née, Dodds was born in Fort Riley, Kansas to John Clarence Dodds and Delia Josephine Lynch on October 22, 1928. Josephine entered the Kingdom of God on February 22, 2016 to be reunited with her loving husband of 53 years, Aloysius Anton Kempen and all of her siblings, Margaret Reed, William Dodds, Elizabeth Potchernick, Elvira Clark, Mildred Lueders, James Dodds, and Sadie Krueger. She leaves behind her children, Kathy Manning Harold, David Kempen Pam, Janet Flieller Bruce, and Daniel Kempen Lorie, ten grandchildren, Melissa Moczygemba Richard, Rachael Charyna Alex, Matthew Kempen Tracy, Jessica Sorensen Kevin, Jillian Casarez Bill, Kelsey Fort, Jared Flieller, Andrew Flieller, Kylie Patterson, and Kaitlyn Kempen. Seven great grandchildren, Jake and Jordan Dziuk, Veronica Charyna, Harper and Luke Kempen, and Christopher and Jane Casarez. She also had numerous friends who were very dear to her especially Patty, Richard, Ingrid, and Richie Moon, and Lou and Ann Kelly. Josephine graduated from St. Joseph's High School in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Since she was an Air Force wife she had many homes in different places but spent the bulk of her married life in Somerset, TX. She was employed by Alcor Aviation as the Human Resource Director for 20 years. Josephine was an Associate member of the Congregation of the Divine Providence and spent many hours helping and visiting with the Sisters residing in McCullough Hall at Our Lady of the Lake. Josephine spent the last 8 years living in the Villa de San Antonio. First in an Independent Living apt. And the last 6 years in an Assisted Living apt where she received the best care possible. She loved all of the staff at the Villa and was happy that she was able to send her final days living there. The family would like to thank her physicians, Dr. Maria Jirka, Dr. David White, Dr. Charles Machell, and Dr. Gregory Greenfield for the wonderful care she received. We would also wish to express our thanks and gratitude to the knowledgeable and caring team of nurses on the 6th floor telemetry unit of the Main Methodist Hospital. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A 12:00 p.m. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Brigid's Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Interment to follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
