Joshua Matthew Baca, 39, went to be with the Lord on April 30th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Joshua was welcomed to this earth on November 16, 1984, in San Antonio, Texas. Joshua graduated from South Side High School and soon after started his lifelong career at CPS Energy. He continued his education and acquired his associate degree from Palo Alto College. Joshua loved his job as a Substation Electrician and he loved his CPS brothers just as much, making it a point to tell them he loved them at the end of every conversation. He had a great work ethic, and it was difficult to get him to take time off even at his sickest. He had plans to change the work culture, treating those after him with equality and respect. His strength, spirit, and grace were something to be admired and his selflessness inspired others. Joshua loved watching his Dodgers play and even made a few visits to Los Angeles and Dallas to watch them. He even attended an Astros game in Houston just to boo them he said. Although he loved baseball, his first love was his family and he made it a point to let them know how much he loved them every single day with a hug, a call, or a text. He is survived by his parents Richard Hernandez and Crystal Baca who raised him with unconditional faith, love, and support; older sister Rebecca Hernandez and her children Izaiah, Eli, Jeremiah and Aaliyah; his younger sister Alexandria and her daughter Izabella; his uncle Gilbert and wife Lisa Baca, his uncle Hilario and wife Ruby Baca, his aunt Emmy Baca, his grandmother Antonia Hernandez, and numerous cousins, his girlfriend who was the love of his life Tania Hernandez and her mom Maria Hernandez who along with his family supported him lovingly throughout his valiant fight. Joshua is preceded in death by his grandfather Gilbert J Baca Sr, grandmother Lillian Solis Baca, uncle Leandro Baca, and his loyal dogs Tiny, Foxy, and Bear. He left an imprint on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His charisma, sense of humor, and quick wit will be missed by all. A visitation will be held on Friday May 10, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Services will conclude in the chapel.
