Juan Flores went to be with our Lord on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the age of 86. He was born on February 7, 1937, in Alice Texas to parents Adan and Gertrudes (Tules) Flores. Juan (Papo, Johnny, Compadre, Tio, Primo, Amigo, etc.) was best known for his larger-than-life personality. He never met a stranger and was instantly loved by all he came in contact with. He was a generous man who always focused on making sure everyone around him was taken care of and was his happiest when he was in a large group of friends and/or family. Juan married his lifelong love, Angelita Campos, on September 22, 1959. They were together for 59 years, living life to its fullest, raising three boys, enjoying family and spending time with their grandkids and great grandkids. When Angelita passed in 2018, all thought it would be the end for him, but his love of life carried him through that very difficult time. He never forgot her, taking her picture with him wherever he went, but he lived life to the fullest by visiting with family and friends and staying in touch with all. He taught us all many lessons, most importantly, his drive to always do the right thing. He believed that whenever a friend or family member was down, we should all stand up to help get them through their troubles. He lived by those principles right to his very last breath. Juan retired from Kelly AFB after a long and distinguished career. Adding to that, he also retired from the U.S. Army Reserves after serving for over 30 years. He made many friends during his time in the service. He wore the badges proudly on his ‘Retired U.S. Army Veteran’ hat and was most proud of his tour in Desert Storm. Juan is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Josefina Angela Flores; his parents Adan S. Flores and Gertrudes Guevara Flores; his son Omar E. Flores and his brother Danny Flores. He is survived by his sons Juan G. Flores (Cheryl) and Rene Flores; grandchildren Kristofer Flores (Charlotte), Heather Casey (Patrick), Danielle Flores, Rene Flores and Andrew Flores (Cassandra); nine great-grandchildren and siblings Mario Flores and Mary Ann Gonzalez along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church with a funeral procession to depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South. The family invites everyone for food and fellowship at Holy Name Catholic Church Community Center immediately following the burial.
