Obituary for Juan Ramos Valdez, Sr. 01/08/1942 – 12/03/2025 In Loving Memory of Juan Ramos Valdez, Sr. Juan Ramos Valdez, Sr., affectionately known as Johnny, was born on January 8, 1942, in Spring Branch, Texas. He passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 83. Johnny was a longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas, and was cherished as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and brother-in-law. Family and Legacy Maria Angelita Valdez, Johnny's cherished wife of 64 years, remains among his loved ones. Together, they built a loving family, including two daughters, Anita Sue Roberson and her husband Donnie, and Bonnie V. Lumbreras; and two sons, Juan Valdez, Jr. and his wife Melissa Ann, and Joseph. His legacy continues through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Roxanne, Kelly, Amanda, Valencia, Vanetta, Avery, Joshua, Johnny, Abby, Brianna, Benjamin, Malachi, Nathaniel, Imari Roo, Isabella, Arlene, Ivyrose, Nohelani, Pheonix, Kaimana, Mililani, Keoni, Ian Ash, and Mahealani. Johnny is also remembered by his brother Teodoro and sisters MaryJane, Genevieve, Janie, Virginia, Matilda, Yolanda, Guadalupe, Betty, Irene, Carol, and Dorothy. He cherished numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and his dear Tia Mary. Service and Career Johnny entered the United States National Guard in 1960 and joined the United States Army in 1961, serving his country for several years. He married Maria Angelita on April 29, 1961, beginning a partnership filled with love and dedication. Johnny was blessed with two daughters and two sons and was proud of his 24 great-grandchildren and grandchildren. He dedicated many years of service at Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base, and Kelly Air Force Base, working through civil service until his retirement in 1999. Personal Qualities and Hobbies Johnny will be fondly remembered for his comedic jokes, infectious laughter, and warm smile. He was a talented handyman, skilled in building and repairing homes, working on his own cars, and handling plumbing, painting, and yard maintenance. His resourcefulness ensured his family always had what they needed. He enjoyed barbequing and especially looked forward to his wife’s potato salad and Sunday breakfasts featuring menudo, barbacoa tacos, tamales, and empanadas de camote. Farewell and Services Johnny will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is now resting peacefully, free from pain and suffering caused by Parkinson’s Disease. His family finds comfort in the promise of resurrection through Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookehill Funeral Home, 711 SE Military Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78214. A Bible talk service will begin at 7:00 PM. The funeral procession will start at Brookehill Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 9:00 AM, procession to Fort Sam Houston at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209 by 10:45 AM. A reception will follow at the Imperial Ballroom from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 300 Callaghan Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78228.
