Juan “Johnny” R. Pesina was born in Parita, TX to Elois and Mary Pesina on July 18, 1944. He was surrounded by his loving family as he went home on the Lord’s day – Sunday, November 3, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Pauline Reyes. Juan is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Leticia A. Pesina; children Lorenda M. Erck (Ace), Sandra A. Winkley (David), Nanette Pesina, and Juan Marc L. Pesina (Stephanie); step-daughter Myrna Childress (Jim); grandchildren Bradley F. Swinney, Mikalya R. Burnett, Sofia C. Winkley, David A. Winkley, II, Brianna M. Erck, Maya J. Pesina, and Gianna Pesina – arriving in December; his loving siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Juan was a proud offensive and defensive end of the 1962 Brackenridge Eagle State Champs. Every last Wednesday of the month you could find him and his teammates at Taco Haven enjoying their 60 year friendship. He joined the Air Force in 1963. While stationed at RAF, South Ruislip, England, he played with the base football team and traveled to numerous countries to compete with other military bases. Upon his discharge, he worked for Ventura Industries and Lester Industries before venturing out on his own. He worked and traveled throughout Mexico, South America, and Central America. In 1991, he decided to change careers, head back to school, and work for the Department of Corrections. He retired as a Captain with 10 years of service. Two months after retirement, he then went to work for Sea World in their Security Division. Juan enjoyed life to its fullest despite his medical issues. He is a 20 plus-year Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor. He loved playing golf every Thursday, hunting, spending time with his brothers and family at the ranch, gardening, walking his dogs Mickey & Daisy, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Grandpa loved cooking and was famous for his “Banana Pudding”. Our family would like to thank our family and friends who prayed, visited, and called during his illness. Dr. Lon Smith, Dr. Paul Shaunnessey, Dr. Robert Schnitzler and Vicki Paparelli, NP, Anna Castro, NP, Dr. Santiago Villarreal, and all the staff at Methodist Hospital; thank you for treating our beloved husband/father with kindness and dignity.
