Judith Ann 'Rabel' Sumner, born September 5, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas, went to be with God on Tuesday October 24, 2023. She was the middle child of five siblings, born to parents Anton John Rabel and Bernice Mary 'Waneck' Rabel of String Prairie, Texas. Known as Judy to most, she was 70 years old at the time of her passing. She is preceded in death by her husband David Allen Sumner, who we are certain greeted her with open arms at the gates to Heaven; She is also preceded in death by her brother Douglas Joseph Rabel, Mother Bernice Mary 'Waneck' Rabel, father Anton John Rabel and parents in law Bette Mae and Herbert "Bud" Allen Sumner. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Ann Smith and husband Jeffrey Smith and son Jeffrey David Sumner. Her grandchildren Warren Cooper, Brooke Teegan, Kallen Reed, Hollee Ann and Zachary David. She is also survived by her siblings Alice and Tommy Magers, AJ and Nina Rabel, Bernie and Jerry Moore. She is survived by brothers in law Herbert Sumner Jr, John and Lynette Sumner, and Tim and Paula Sumner. She was beloved by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends. Judy was dedicated to her faith, she always carried a rosary in her purse and had a cross in her pocket. She attended St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School as a child. Graduated from Edison High School class of 1971. She married David Sumner on September 12, 1981. They raised two children together and shared a love with them surrounded by faith and family. Judy loved to have a good time, she loved to gather with family during the holidays and special occasions. She was so excited when her daughter, son and nieces and nephews began getting married, she would never miss a wedding or a reason to celebrate. When babies were born she shared in that excitement and did her best to never miss a baptism. You also might catch her at a BINGO or BUNCO game or find her at the annual Holy Name Casino Night. She loved to play dominos with her grandchildren or help them with homework, craft projects or baking in the kitchen. She loved to crochet and learned to sew as a child; her family would sew custom made clothing and quilts. She loved selling Mary Kay Makeup and enjoyed the fellowship with friends she made while also learning about Mary Kay. She loved to shop and also never passed up a clearance rack; she just loved to find a good deal. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, she worked at the school for many years and also volunteered her time in many aspects both at the church and the school. For a time she was a eucharistic minister. She will be remembered for her time in the office at Holy Name Catholic School; for always being that smiling face greeting everyone who entered. She was always willing to help at school, to answer questions, posting signs around the neighborhood, helping at the Halloween Carnival and she always had a smile while doing so. She will be dearly missed by the Holy Name Catholic School community; where she served since 1990. When you really think about her life, all she ever wanted was to share her love with those around her. Her family was always at the center of her heart and mind. Although we wish we had more time with her, our beloved Mom and Grandma; we know God called her to our heavenly home. When thinking of our Mom we are reminded of the verse...There are three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is LOVE. - 1 Corinthians 13:13
