Katherine Boeselt Skrehot, a loving and kind wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, passed away on February 2, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, after a brief illness. She was born on September 17, 1932, in Lott, Texas to Paul Boeselt and Genice Moore Boeselt. She grew up on a small farm in the community of Westphalia, in central Texas. Brought up in a humble setting and upon graduation from high school, she hightailed it to the big city of San Antonio, where she was able to live in a place with running water and indoor plumbing, which she grew up without. In San Antonio, she met the love of her life, Victor. They married in 1953 and she quickly fell in love with the role of wife, mother and homemaker. Katherine and Victor spent their years together on the go. Together, they enjoyed spending nights out dining and dancing with their friends and family. They led quite the active lifestyle and one of their pastimes was to travel the world together. On their travels, Victor would spoil Katherine with keepsakes of jewelry, which she deeply treasured. Whenever she wore a piece of jewelry from a trip, she loved to share moments and memories that she experienced around the world. Katherine and Victor continued their traditions of nights out dancing and traveling until Victor became ill and passed in 2007.After her children were grown, Katherine, and a group of close friends partook in monthly bunco tournaments and she loved to regale the events to her loved ones. Bunco was something that she looked forward to each month because it afforded her the opportunity to visit with her friends.Katherine took great joy in cooking and hostessing holiday dinners for her family. Feeding those that she loved gave her a great sense of pride. One of the ways that she chose to spend quality time with her granddaughters was passing down her love of baking, and the importance of sifting flour, and she succeeded because they both enjoy making homemade baked goods, over purchasing store bought. During holidays, Katherine loved to hear the details of the baking processes for the baked goods her granddaughters would bring to family gatherings.Katherine had a close relationship with God and recited the rosary daily and kept her rosary on her person wherever she went.Mrs. Skrehot was preceded in death by her husband Victor Skrehot, her sisters, Betty Freeman and Laura Wilkerson; and brother, Roy Boeselt. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Strauss (Steve); sons, David Skrehot (Billie) and Ricky Skrehot (Jo Ann Blacketer); grandchildren, Emily Montanus (Phil), Shelly Skrehot (Jeremy), Tanner Skrehot, Lesley Strauss, Andrew Strauss, Jake Strauss (Kylee); great-grandchildren, Edith Montanus, Grayson and Skylar Strauss; numerous nieces and nephews spread across the country and grand dog, Sydney. Katherine spent her last year’s comfortably in her home and was very active up until her illness in late January. In her final years, Katherine’s daughter Cheryl and grand dog Sydney assisted in her care and acted as her companions through her final moments. Many thanks to the Strauss family in Colorado for their compassion and allowing Cheryl to relocate from Colorado to spend those precious years with Katherine. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A Graveside Service will be on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 10:00am at Ft.
