Larry Jerome Preiss, age 74, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully in the early afternoon hours of Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Mission Trails Baptist Hospital, with his beloved family by his side. Larry was born in Blanco, Texas on February 28, 1948, to the late Raymond Martin and Josephine Bechtold Preiss. On March 2, 1973, Larry married the love of his life, and his best friend, Katherine Aniol, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Elmendorf. After nearly 50 years of raising a family, watching his cherished grandchildren laugh and grow, and a lifetime of memories with family and friends, she survives. Those who remember Larry best will remember a man who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed horses, traveling and sports. He enjoyed being on the water, but there was little better for Larry than an afternoon riding motorcycles through the Hill Country of Central Texas. Larry was a larger-than-life character who loved to laugh, play with his children and grandchildren, and spend time with his extended family. His life leaves behind a legacy for all to follow. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine; his children, Nicole Gawlik, and husband Nick, Larry A. Preiss, and wife Rosalind, and Jonathan Preiss, and wife Ashley; two brothers, Elmer Preiss, and wife Helen, and Nelton Preiss, and wife Charlotte; grandchildren, Callan Gawlik, Katie Gawlik, Allison Preiss, Emilia Preiss, Luke Preiss, Sophie Preiss, and Emma Preiss; and by a host of relatives, nieces and nephews and very special friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Preiss and Alton Preiss. A funeral mass for Larry Jerome Preiss will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 10, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. 16506 Kilowatt Rd, Elmendorf, TX 78112. Interment will follow at a graveside service at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. 1700 S. E. Military Dr., San Antonio, TX 78214. The rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M.
