Laura Lopez Huron born November 28,1924 in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by her children, peacefully entered eternal rest on October 10, 2023 at the age of 98. It is fitting that Laura returned to the loving arms of her husband Horace Huron who proceeded her in death on their 80th Wedding Anniversary. Laura married Horace Huron on October 10, 1943, days before he was sent to Europe to fight in WWII. Laura was a war bride waiting for the return of her husband. At the age of 19 she endured the harsh realities of war by learning her husband had been shot down over Germany not knowing his fate and months later learning he was a Prisoner of War in a German prison. Laura held steadfast to her faith and never lost hope. Ever hopeful and faithful, her husband returned and they started their life together enduring many struggles and hardships. Together Laura and Horace raised 6 children. While her husband worked to financially support his family and provide them with a Catholic education, Laura was the strength and heart of their home. She always put the needs of her husband and children above her own, always loving and nurturing her family. Laura held steadfast to her faith, always hopeful and trusting of her merciful and loving God to provide. She always offered to anyone a word of comfort and wisdom. Laura is survived by her six children: Laura Yzaguirre and her husband Rafael Yzaguirre, Henrietta Longoria and her husband George Longoria Jr., Irene Flores and her husband Richard Flores, Mark Huron and his wife Lucy Huron, James Huron and his wife Cecilia Huron and Aaron Huron and his wife Evelyn Huron. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great grand children and 1 great great grand child. The family extends sincere gratitude to those who cared for Laura in her final months and days especially the loving staff at Poet’s Walk Memory Care Community and Alamo Hospice. Her home care givers Maria Barron, Maria Esquivel, Alex Tabora, Linda Martinez, Myra Narvaiz and Erika Pena provided daily care for Laura while she was able to remain at her home. Thank you for providing our mother compassion, love and dignity until her last moment.
