Leonor Torres Gutierrez, age 89, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Leonor is reunited in heaven with her grandparents, Isidro and Victoria Torres; her parents, Pascual and Florencia Torres; her brothers, Abel and Carlos Torres; her husband, Edward “Wayo” Gutierrez; and her beloved son, Edward “Wayito” Gutierrez. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Patricia Miller (George); her sons, Robert, George (Summer), and Michael Gutierrez (Ligia); her daughter-in-law Johanna Garcia; her brother Manuel; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her dog Princess, all of whom adored her deeply. Leonor was born in Dilley, Texas on December 26, 1935. Her values were rooted in her homelife, the care and love of her grandparents, Isidro and Victoria, and the hard work she began at a young age as a migrant worker across Texas and the Midwest. These experiences instilled in her a lifelong appreciation for perseverance and compassion. Her home with her husband, Wayo, on Espada Road in San Antonio, Texas, served as the cornerstone for the Gutierrez family, where Leonor was the matriarch for three generations of loved ones. Leonor was the most giving person you could ever meet. She always flashed a warm smile followed by her infectious laugh, which gave her the ability to turn strangers into friends immediately. She loved to talk, to listen, and to make people feel seen and cared for. Her friends and the Espada Mission community will never forget her as the heart behind the Mission Trail Ice House, where her generosity and humor made everyone feel at home. She cherished her family above all else and found her greatest joy in spending time outdoors with her children and grandchildren, laughing, joking, and picking pecans in the backyard. She was a woman who found joy in the simple things: a family BBQ, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, a Spurs game, or cheering for her Dallas Cowboys. Her love for Elvis Presley and classic Mexican music was part of the stories she enjoyed sharing with all of us. Leonor’s life was defined by love freely given, never withheld. She gave her time, her heart, and her strength to everyone around her. To know her was to be blessed by her spirit. Leonor lived a life filled with love, generosity, and joy. She gave more than she ever took, and she left everyone she met better than she found them. Her family and friends will forever remember her as a humble soul with a warm heart, a bright smile, and a spirit that will never fade. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park South. A funeral procession will depart the funeral at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, for a 10:30 a.m. funeral mass at Mission San Francisco De La Espada Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Mission Espada Cemetery.
