A Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 9:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Leonor G Torres affectionately known as Nora, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and compassionate community servant, peacefully went to our Lord on March 9, 2025. Born on November 6, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas, Nora was the dutiful eldest child of Juan and Albina Garza. She was a proud graduate of Fox Tech High School class of 1955. She continued her education and obtained her LVN license where she developed a deep sense of responsibility and caring nature. Her family was her greatest pride and joy. She found happiness with her family at the beach collecting seashells, enjoying the water at a river, dancing at a family celebration, attending a school event or, watching the fiesta parades. In her twilight years, with her husband, she enjoyed her time and winnings at the casino. She cherished her numerous grandchildren as she affectionately referred to them as her angels. Through her talents as an accomplished seamstress she left an indelible mark on her culture and community. She created beautiful flamenco and folklorico dance costumes, precise alterations of many military uniforms, and weaved herself into all the fabrics of her creation. Her creativity extended to her artwork, crocheting, as well as a flamenco and folklorico dancer. Nora’s unconditional love for everyone could only be matched by her generous nature. To be around her, you could not help but be drawn to her beautiful soul. It was said by her husband “she does not know how to lie.” She found religious peace and love attending multiple ACTS retreats and serving her community through the Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus. Her spiritual presence continues to inspire us. One can say, she lived her life as one continue dance inspiring others to join. We are all blessed to have her in our life. Thank you mom for this precious gift. Leonor is survived by her loving husband Pedro Torres III of 64 years, children Leonor Rose Puente, Andrew Michael Torres, Paul Thomas Torres, Martha Ann Torres and brother Estanislao Garza, and 14 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great-Grandchild. She is preceded in death by her son Peter Dominic Torres, parents Juan and Albina Garza, brother Gilbert Garcia Garza, sister Maria Zenona Zuniga. Her life and legacy will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Alamo Funeral Chapel located at 624 N. Alamo St. San Antonio, Texas, 78215. Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm. The Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 9:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 152 Florencia Ave. San Antonio, Texas, 78228. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio Texas, 78209 precisely at 11:15am. A reception will follow immediately after the interment, at Holy Family Catholic Church Hall to continue her celebration of life.
