Lillian 'Lil" Lauder died peacefully at home in San Antonio at age 87 on Sunday, December 21,, 2008 after a brief illness. She lived a full, rich life as a wife, mother and friend to all. Lil is preceded in death by her husband Edmund and her brother Raymond. Lil was born in Hicksville, New York on January 30, 1921. Ed and she were married on January 6, 1946 in New York and moved to San Antonio shortly thereafter, where they were stationed at Brooks Field for three years. They left San Antonio in 1949 vowing to return as soon as possible. They returned in 1959 with their three children and Lil's mother, never to leave the city they loved again. Lil and Ed not only raised their children, they opened their home to others, making for a wonderfully diverse extended family. Whether two- or four-legged, to the hungry, she offered food, to the wounded she provided care and to the lost she gave shelter and always with open arms. She is survived by her son Bob, and wife Carol of Austin, son Jim and wife Ann of San Antonio, daughter Sue Lauder Riemer and husband Ira, of Tampa, FL, and grandchildren Rebecca and Devin Riemer and Kelly Lauder, step-grand children Kara and Jeremy Minihan, and a great granddaughter, Destiny Minihan. Lil is also survived by her extended family, Saruon Peth, Sophol Contreras, Nui Loung, and Rick Hall and her dearest cousin, Irene Segreto, along with other cousins, nieces and nephews residing in New York and Vermont. To all who knew her, Lil came alive whenever she was around people, whether friends, family, or strangers. She will be missed by her Avon colleagues, the Lost Chord Club, her Bunko Canasta groups and her beloved pets. Honorary pallbearers are Diane, Matthew, Katy and Michael Hall, Brad Bindock, Roman Espino, Tony Kustelski, and Andrew Contreras. The family wishes to thank Elizabeth Basaldua and Rosie Leija for their compassionate care during Lil's last months. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the Humane Society. A visitation will begin at 11:30 with a Memorial Service to celebrate her life at noon on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North.
