Lola Patricia "Pat" Campbell "Pat" was born in Kingsville, Texas to Benjamin Patrick and Grace Butts on October 24, 1916. Pat, aka. Lola Mae, Mae, Mother and Mah went to a joyous reunion with Our Lord, her parents, siblings and beloved, William Bill Campbell, all of whom had predeceased her. Her Earthly Journey ended at 9:35 P.M. on Apri118, 2007. During her journey on earth, she attended A & I University for two years. Upon receiving a scholarship to Mary Hardin-Baylor, she received her BS degree in Health and Physical Education. Pat's first teaching job was at Hebbronville High School as the girl's Physical Education Teacher and Coach -which included the Pep Squad. It was during this year ~ as she was keeping house with two other young teachers, that she met and fell in love with Bill Campbell. After their marriage in 1939, they resided in several places in The Valley until 1943 when the war interfered with their bliss and Bill was inducted into military service. The next three years found Pat in San Antonio the majority of the time. After the war, they moved to Gonzales, Texas where she taught in the High School. She later moved to the Elementary School and worked on her Master's in Education and a Counseling degree during the summers. It was during this time that they were blessed with two adopted children, William Gibbs, Jr. and Alyson Grace, to whom they referred as "bright spots in our lives." In 1954 the family returned to San Antonio where Pat was involved in the Education System 32 years. Upon her retirement, she began volunteering at Southeast Baptist Hospital, then became an employee working another five years. The family home was lived in and loved until three years ago when Pat choose to enter a retirement community .Pat took great pleasure in her close relationship with her grandson, Robert and his wife Kristie McHatton as well as her grand- daughter Christi McHatton and her life partner Pat Lokan. She developed a very special bond with her great -grand daughter Shyanne McHatton. And was just getting to know and love her two step-great grand children Jessica and Joel Powers. Pat also delighted in the antics of the infant great grand child, Aralynn McHatton. She will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends who are reassured in the knowledge that she is in a much better place.
