And her children shall rise up and call her blessed Proverbs 31:28 Lorene Amerson, our gentle, sweet mother, and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2007. She was the center of our family and continued to be until the moment of her death, surrounded by all her children and many grandchildren. Lorene was born to J.T. and Mary Henke on October 23, 1927 the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Fashing, Texas and later attended business school in San Antonio. It was there she met the love of her life, Willie J. Amerson on a blind date, July 4, 1950. When they married four months later on November 4, she became the balance to his boisterous energy. By her quiet nature, she taught us many things: love our God, love yourselves and each other, support your community and church, and keep friends wherever you go. Mothers love of the Lord, our Savior, was steadfast and never waivered. Her Rosary and prayer medals were her rod and staff in moments of joy and days of sadness. As a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in San Antonio, she served in the Altar Society and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxillary. Seton Home, Assumption Seminary, Family Guild, and Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women were close to her heart and she worked hard on their behalf. She was also involved in many civic organizations. Lorene is survived by her children: KenJane Amerson, ElaineBob Cox, MikeTina Amerson, RobertRosemary Amerson, KateFred Hughes, SteveTrish Amerson, LorettaRandy Waclawczyk, Pat Thompson, JudyRobert Morgan, DorothyMark Akeroyd, Debbie Chuck Carlisle, 26 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Willie J.s family in Florida also mourn her loss. She is also survived by her siblings, Gladys Freddy Niemann, Bernice Melvin Flieller, James Karen Henke, Lillian Bob Siemering and sisters-in-law, Mamie Henke and Ginger Henke. Moms unconditional love and kindness extended to those members lost through death and divorce. To Lorene, you are always family. Lorene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie J., parents and two brothers, Elo Henke and Roy Henke. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seton Home, 1115 Mission Road, San Antonio, TX 78210. Services Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Dad, we kept our promise to you and did not falter. Our hearts are breaking but we know, joy comes with the morning.
