Lorraine Chavez, a devoted wife, loving mother, adored grandmother, sister, and friend gained her wings on April 12,2025 in Reno Nevada at the age of 62. She was one of seven children born on May 27,1962 in San Antonio Tx. She was adventurous. She loved fishing, throwing darts, singing, dancing, making new friends, traveling to watch volleyball games, watching her favorite sports teams, crafts and enjoying great laughs with family and friends. She had a huge heart and wanted to help everyone in any way she could. She was a very proud 1980 graduate of Wheatley High School and maintained lifelong friendships. She dedicated over 15 years to Kelly AFB. Lorraine took pride in her community by always advocating for safer streets for children. She was also our family seamstress. She was strong willed and always spoke her mind. She also took pride in her achievements including earning a certificate for Medical Assistant in 2016. Lorraine is survived by her husband Jerry Girela, loving children Stephanie Chavez (Richard), Issac Chavez, Megan Benitez (Manuel), Marisa Mendez, stepdaughter Stephanie Ledezma (Alberto) and loving grandmother to twenty-three grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents Felix and Maria Magdalena Chavez, and stepson Jerry A. Herrera Girela Jr. She leaves behind her sisters, Norma, Patricia, Judy (Joe), brothers, Felix, Jerry (Janie), Leroy (Lillian), numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Lorraine’s legacy of love, faith and resilience will always live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her beautiful smile lit up every room and her laughter was gold. Her love will always guide us. A gorgeous soul, gone to soon. Until we see you again, may you rest in eternal peace. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge St, San Antonio, TX 78230. Visitation will continue Wednesday, April 23 at 8:00 am followed by a Funeral Procession from Mission Park Funeral Chapels North at 8:30 am to St. Phillip of Jesus Catholic Church, 142 E Lambert St, San Antonio, TX 78204 to celebrate the Funeral Mass. The services will conclude at the Church, as cremation will follow at a later date. The family requests that guests wear their favorite bright colors in celebration of Lorraine Chavez's life.
