It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Lorraine Emma Tieken Lancaster, who left us on May 26, 2025, after a beautifully lived life. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, guidance, and love in abundance. She was born on August 5, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Johann and Emma Tieken. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter S. Lancaster, Jr., brothers Johnnie and Marvin, his wife Margie, her nephew John Robert and her son Michael W. Lancaster. Lorraine graduated from Breckenridge High School and went onto becoming a registered nurse working as a surgical/delivery nurse at the downtown Baptist hospital, she also worked at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston and the State Psychiatric Hospital in San Antonio. Upon her husband’s death, she pivoted careers so that she could be more involved in her children’s lives by becoming a school nurse for the San Antonio Independent School District. She worked at various schools within the district, with Thomas Jefferson High School being her longest tenure and one in which she made many lifelong friends. Lorraine was a remarkable baker who delighted in preparing treats for her family, especially her famous mini cinnamon rolls, apple pie, and carrot cake. Lorraine enjoyed her retirement years by attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on, rather it be at the Alamo Heights Little League fields, Alamo Heights/YMCA football, Alamo Heights tennis matches or the University of Texas at Austin tennis matches. She was dedicated to her church, Christ Lutheran of Alamo Heights and enjoyed 20+ years of being with fellow quilters making quilts for the Lutheran World Relief. Lorraine is survived by her son, Mark Lancaster, her daughter Lisa Chegin (Tom); her grandchildren, Caroline Davenport (Brandon), Sarah Sbronga (Derek), Walker Lancaster, Jack and Cade Chegin. As well as her great grandchildren, Dylan and Vance Davenport, Ben and Sullivan Sbronga. She also leaves behind her niece Liz Landrum (John) as well as other relatives and friends. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at The Forum of Lincoln Heights Memory Care for their dedication, relentless support and love.
