Lowell V. Tommy Thomas, Sr. was born July 8, 1923 in Pasadena, Ca., son of the late R. Harrison and Della C. Goff Thomas. He went to his heavenly home on October 23, 2015 at age 92. The family moved to Crawford County, Mo., May 1929. Lowell enjoyed his early years on the family farm in the Ozarks. He graduated from Dillard High School, May 6, 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1943 until retirement, August 31, 1966, attaining the grade of Command Sergeant Major E-9. He was employed at Government Employees Credit Union for 20 years, retiring September 1, 1986. Lowell Tommy pitched for the "BAMC Comets" baseball team, 1946-1950, under Coach Col. John Kramer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Sylvia; brothers, Paul, Francis, and Harry; sister Leah. Surviving are sons, Lowell V. Jr, Lane and wife Kathy, Laird and wife Juanita; Daughter, Laura Miller and Husband William; Grandsons Nicholas Rios, Scott Thomas and wife Tracy, Paul Thomas and wife Molly; Granddaughter Andrea Rios; Great-grandchildren Taylor, Braydon, Bowen, and Mia; Step Great-Grandchildren, Tyler, Odessa and Hayden all residing in the San Antonio area. He is also survived by brother Rennic B. Thomas and wife Barbara, Union City, Ca., sister-in-laws Frances Thomas, Springfield, Mo., Carol Thomas, Viburnum, Mo. and Eleanor Luna, Fl.; Brother-in-law, Isaac Luna and wife Carol, Fl., as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, who will miss Lowell's sense of humor, his honest approach to life, his endearing smile and his attitude of gratitude. Lowell was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church for more than 32 years, faithfully serving the Lord in church activities. Visitation will be at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, located at 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, Tx., from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 with a Celebration of Life to begin at 7:00 P.M. Officiating will be Rev. Harry Kahl. A graveside service will be on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 9:30 A.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice or Jefferson UMC Foundation, Inc., 758 Donaldson Ave, San Antonio, Tx. 78201-4896.
