Tributes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lucila departed this world on August 6, 2024 at the wonderful age of 96. She is joining her husband, Patricio Resendez, her son Augustine Resendez, grandson Rene Patrick Resendez, as well as numerous family and friends that preceded her departure. Lucila (Lucy) leaves behind her daughters Hortencia Pastrano (husband Andres), Irma Dominguez (husband Joe), and sons, Gilberto (wife Carla), Adolfo (wife Mary Esther) and Arturo. Additionally, Lucila passing leaves an empty spot in the hearts of her wonderful 9 grandchildren, who have often professed what an amazing grandmother she was to all of them, 17 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Lucy was a dedicated wife, a tireless and loving stay at home mom. She stayed busy raising 6 children, while accompanying and supporting her loving husband to build his business. Her passion was cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling to places like Mexico, Colorado, and the Grand Canyon with her family. She also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino for a little fun. She enjoyed shopping at all her favorite stores, having the occasional lunch at our local parks and watching her spanish telenovelas. Her favorite hobby was to crochet items such as baby shower blankets, afghan blankets, and many handmade requests for friends and family. She made her children-crochet pattern bedspreads, tablecloths, dollies and her grandchildren's 1st baby blanket. Anybody that knew Lucy will fondly remember her generosity of spirit, the warmth of her home and her ability to always make room for one more at her table. Her lasting legacy will be of a giving soul, kindness of spirit, and the desire to always be of service to others. During her life she enjoyed sharing wonderful stories of her life growing up in Mexico and coming to United States in 1946. It goes without saying that Lucy was truly a special person. She will be sorely missed but will always remain a bright light in the memories of all who knew and loved her! May her memory always be a blessing. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower, San Antonio, Texas 78201. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South (1700 SE Military Dr. San Antonio, Texas 78214) where she will be joined with her husband of 56 years, Patricio Resendez.
