Lucille Hentzschel was born to Herbert and Ora Hentzschel on January 6, 1932 in Shelby TX. At birth she was delivered at home by a midwife and weighed 12lbs. People came for miles as the word spread to see this large baby. She was the last of 4 daughters. Oldest sister Lydia, followed by Alivia Libby, Helen and then Lucille. She was born to a long line of circuit riding preachers. When she was 6 years old her family moved to Fashing, TX to restart their lives after losing everything during the great depression. Here she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and savior. When she started school she could not speak English as German was her families' only language. She graduated from Karnes City High School. She followed her older sister Alivia to San Antonio to start Business College. After Business College she met her first husband Lee Birdsong to whom she was married to for 23 years and had 3 children. In 1982 she married the love of her life Walter B. Collier deceased 2014 who she cherished dearly. They were married 32 years. During this time she worked for UTHSC Dental School and UTHSC Police Department. She retired in 1988 and devoted her life to her loved ones. She was an active member of Castle Hills First Baptist Church for many years until health reasons did not permit her to continue. She is survived by sister's Lydia Homberg, Libby Herndon husband Howard, son Terry Birdsong wife Susan. Daughter Betsy Engel. Grandchildren: Deanna Porter, Aaron Birdsong, Meggan Birdsong, Shane Hughes wife Ashley, Corey McCay husband Richard, Serena Birdsong. Great-Grandchildren: Ashley Porter, Lilly, Ellie and Beau McCay, Andrew Pressley, Cortese Birdsong and other loving family members. Lucille was also loved by Walter's children and grandchildren: Lesley Wyse husband Jody, Carolyn, Steve wife Terri, Robert wife Cami, and J.D. wife Laurel. Grandchildren are Tami Wells husband Kacey, Jed Wyse wife Katie, Cally Vick, Maggie Christensen husband Louie, Courtany Wallen Husband Kevin, Christopher Vick, Jason Collier wife Amanda, Cassidy, Dalton and Davis Collier, Zachary and Ben Collier. Great-Grandchildren are Addison and Macie Kate Wells, Beryl and Joe Wyse, Colton and Lyla Collier. We wish to extend special thanks to Allison and Rabecca with All County Home Care & Hospice for the Christian love and kindness showed to our loved one in her time of need. Also very and warm sincere thanks to Amanda Skidmore and Corey McCay Granddaughter for their comfort and support on mothers last day. Visitation will be Sunday October 11, 2015 from 4-7 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapel North, 3401 Cherry Ridge. The Memorial Service will be Monday October 12, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Castle Hills Church, 2220 N.W. Military Hwy. Interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery at 2P.M. on Tuesday October 13, 2015.
